If you pronounce it right (correctly), it is pronounced 'wrong'. The word 'but' is added to confuse you. It makes you think there will be a difference. There isn't. If you pronounce it 'wrong', you are right (correct).
It's similar to the question, "Why does it take an hour and 20 minutes on the train to get to work but it only takes 80 minutes to get back home?" The times are the same, but the words 'but it only takes' makes you think that they're not the same.
